About this Event

F4S presents 'Careers in STEM' as part of the Futures4Students career inspiration webinar series that focus on future careers for young people in secondary education. Join us to celebrate British Science Week and International Women’s Day 2021 on Monday 8th March 2021.

We’re holding a day long series of virtual sessions in line with this year’s Science Week theme of Innovating for the Future. These sessions can be attended as a one off or as a series of events and are designed for students and educators, and we also welcome any parents who wish to join the student sessions.

For this event we bring together industry professionals from a range of sectors: Environment & Energy, Food & Drink, Financial Services, Engineering & Manufacturing and Science & Tech to share insights with students about what it takes to have a fulfilling and successful career in these industries. F4S has partnered with 100 Women in Finance to present these events.

Booking:

• You book onto the individual sessions you are interested in, you are of course welcome to attend all the sessions but this is not a requirement.
• Educators - book the sessions you would like your students to attend on their behalf and you will be sent a joining link for you to share with them.
• Students/Parents - book the individual sessions you are interested in and you will be sent joining instructions.

Hear from our industry experts who will showcase their careers in sustainability, with a focus on energy and the environment, and how they link to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Session 3: 11:15 - 11:45 Spotlight: Sustainability 4 food and drink

Hear from our industry experts who will showcase their careers in sustainability, with a focus on the food and drink industry, and how they link to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Session 4: 12:00 - 12:30 Spotlight: Arts and creativity 4 STEM

Inspire students with the career story of our role-models who combine creativity, art and STEM in their careers.

Session 5: 12:45 - 13:15 Relatable Role Models & Unconscious Bias

We are putting a spotlight on the importance of relatable role-models for young people and how to avoid unconscious bias in your classroom and careers education.

Session 6: 13:30 - 14:00 Spotlight: Engineering & Manufacturing 4 the future

Hear from our industry-leading role-models and discover more about careers in manufacturing and engineering, including cutting edge and careers of the future, and how they link to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Session 7: 14:15 - 14:45 Spotlight: Science & Tech

Hear from our industry-leading role-models and discover more about careers in science and technology, including cutting edge and careers of the future, and how they link to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Session 8: 16:00-16:30 Skills needed 4 careers in science and technology

Gain insight into this rapidly expanding industry area. Be able to inspire your students with up to date careers insights, and support them with the skills they need to start a career in these fields.
