A day to inspire Key Stage 3 girls
In partnership with Capita plc, we have designed a day to inspire Key Stage 3 learners, in years 7 and 8 across North Tyneside schools, with a cross-curricular workshop offering pupils the opportunity to apply STEM knowledge and skills to solve topical problems.
The Atomic Girls event recognises the vital role aspiring female engineers and scientists can play in making an impact on global economic matters. Influential female professionals from Capita plc will be there to inspire and mentor alongside the Atomic Skills team, to deliver a packed agenda to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day 2019.
Just a snapshot of the skills gained from the Atomic Girls event, include:
- Industry insights
- Collaborative working
- Presentation skills
- Boosting confidence and driving motivation
- Influence of strong female role models
- Smarter working and realistic goal setting
- Critical thinking and design thinking
- Digital competencies
- Enterprise and entrepreneurship
- Enhanced emotional intelligence
- A clearer understanding of the 'future you'
We'll explore global sustainable development goals through design thinking to lead to a strong understanding of how STEM disciplines interact in the real world to influence innovation and change.
This Atomic Girls event is completely free and is exclusively for girls studying in years 7 and 8 at North Tyneside schools. With 40 spaces available, each school can claim a maximum of 5 spaces to ensure we can fairly engage as many young girls as possible across the borough.
