Nissan Schools’ Engineering Discovery Event

Monday 11 November  – Thursday 14 November 2019

Monday 18th November – Thursday 21 November 2019

Nissan is planning to hold its 12th School Engineering Discovery Event on the dates above.  It is free to attend, and open to Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Engineering plays a major part in every aspect of our lives, and this event will show students its importance to Nissan. The event will look at all models made at Sunderland Plant, and in particular the 100% electric Nissan LEAF. There will also be a plant tour to see the Nissan cars in production.

The event is being held in conjunction with the Government’s “See Inside Manufacturing” programme. The initiative hopes to inspire young people to consider careers in advanced manufacturing and engineering, and to challenge negative perceptions about the UK’s manufacturing industry.

The event will begin in our main reception conference room, where pupils will learn about engineering at Nissan and take part in related activities. It’s then a short walk to the shop floor to see how thousands of parts arrive at the side of production line, on time, to be fitted to the painted vehicle shell.

Each session can accommodate 120 pupils:

AM session – 9:45am-12 noon (registration from 9.30am)

PM session – 12:45pm-3pm (registration from 12.30pm)

Pupils will receive a gift to take home.
