The 2021 North East STEM Awards are officially LIVE and open for applications!

This prestigious virtual awards ceremony on the 15th July 2021, celebrates and recognises North East STEM Ambassadors and STEM organisations who, through their interaction, have inspired, engaged and enthused many young people and their teachers in STEM over the past year.

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the valued contribution and real difference that these people and their organisations have made to the lives of thousands of individuals in our region.

Applications are welcome from schools, teachers, non-school groups, STEM Ambassadors, STEM companies and other organisations who would like to take this opportunity to not only say ‘thank you’ but to reward the exceptional dedication and commitment these individuals and their organisations have shown to the STEM agenda in the North East.

7 of the award winners will be given the opportunity to donate £250 to a North East school of their choice.* Helping to further support and strengthen STEM provision for our future generation in the region.

There are 10 award categories open for entry, with a final closing date for submissions of 5pm on Friday 28th May 2021.

  1. Highest number of hours by a STEM Ambassador – this category is not open for applications and will be decided based on data taken from the STEM Learning online platform at 5pm on Friday 28th May 2021 - The winner will receive a trophy, Champagne and certificate.
  2. Largest number of active STEM Ambassadors from a NE SME (<250 employees) –  this category is not open for applications and will be decided based on data taken from the STEM Learning online platform at 5pm on Friday 28th May 2021- The winner will receive a trophy and company certificate as well as £250 to award to a chosen school.
  3. Largest number of active STEM Ambassadors from a company with 250+ employees – this category is not open for applications and will be decided based on data taken from the STEM Learning online platform at 5pm on Friday 28th May 2021 - The winner will receive a trophy and company certificate as well as £250 to award to a chosen school.
  4. Highest number of hours for a new STEM Ambassador (registered between 1st April ’20 and 28th May 2021) – this category is not open for applications and will be decided based on data taken from the STEM Learning online platform at 5pm on Friday 28th May 2021 - The winner will receive a trophy, Champagne and certificate.
  5. Most inspirational Science Employer (open for applications) - The winner will receive a trophy and company certificate as well as £250 to award to a chosen school.
  6. Most inspirational Technology Employer (open for applications) - The winner will receive a trophy and company certificate as well as £250 to award to a chosen school.
  7. Most inspirational Engineering Employer (open for applications) - The winner will receive a trophy and company certificate as well as £250 to award to a chosen school.
  8. Most inspirational Maths Employer (open for applications) - The winner will receive a trophy and company certificate as well as £250 to award to a chosen school.
  9. Most inspirational STEM Employer (open for applications) - The winner will receive a trophy and company certificate as well as £250 to award to a chosen school.
  10. Special recognition awards for outstanding contribution to STEM Education in the North East – this category will be decided by the North East STEM Hub - The 12 winners will receive a trophy, Champagne and certificate.
