The Big Bang Near Me is a UK-wide programme of regional events to get students excited about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
In the North East, it is delivered by RTC North and brings together regional partners, industry, a 1200 strong ambassador network and a mix of organisations delivering the STEM agenda.
Our Big Bang team will deliver a high-quality programme of activity to raise the aspirations and awareness of young people in the North East about STEM-based subjects. The showpiece event is a large celebration of regional engineering spread over two days called 'Bring It On', at which thousands of pupils from regional schools will get to interact with regional employers and see engineering brought to life.
Big Bang North East's main focus is on building a passionate community around The Big Bang Fairs which will bring together schools and industry to work together on projects important to their communities.
This will allow teachers and students an opportunity to both understand local organisations and build meaningful relationships. This, in turn, will build in consistency and continuity increasing the numbers of schools that enter the challenge and progress to the national finals.
Get involved and organise a Big Bang event in your school. We'll provide all the resource and know-how you need to run a successful event and engage with as many kids as possible.
