North East Ambition

The new North East Ambition programme, brought to the region by the North East LEP, the STEM Ambassador Hub North East, the Edge Foundation and STEM Learning, helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engage effectively with educators and young people to influence careers, impact the curriculum and build industry-relevant skills in our schools and communities.

The benefits of engaging with education through the North East Ambition programme are far-reaching:

  • Direct access to the skills pipeline and future workforce
  • Staff development, training and retention through volunteering opportunities
  • Creating positive brand awareness and promoting the company to the next generation
  • Support with national initiatives such as apprenticeships
  • Fulfilling your CSR agenda by ‘giving back’ to the community
  • Tapping into creative problem solving from young people as future consumers
  • Impacting the curriculum and influencing the skills agenda
  • Opportunities to network with other organisations and potential business partners
  • Access to other support and growth programmes through RTC North

There are a huge variety of engagement opportunities available in schools and with community groups:

  • Skills and careers talks
  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Careers ‘speed dating’
  • Student workplace visits and work experience
  • Local area-specific links with schools
  • Information about apprenticeships and early careers
  • Hands-on practical events such as science fairs
  • Employability skills such as mock interviews and CV building
  • Linking with teachers to help influence curriculum and teaching methods

If you’re an SME and would like more information about being part of the North East Ambition programme, please contact Suzy Rennison on suzy.rennison@rtcnorth.co.uk or 0191 516 4400.
