Learn how to introduce the concept of Operational Research to young people using Lego - for STEM Ambassadors and Secondary teachers.
About this Event
Operational Research (OR) is the science and art of using maths to solve problems and improve decision making. It’s ‘maths in the real world’, with applications from government, retail and sports to healthcare, finance and event planning.
This session, led by Eve Hardy, Education Manager at The Operational Research Society, features a quick introduction to OR followed by an interactive demonstration of the popular Lego Furniture Factory workshop, a fun, hands-on explanation of how OR and maths are used in real life. You will also learn where to find free OR teaching and volunteering resources and support.
If you have some Lego available, Eve will be using:
We will send a worksheet in advance so you can prepare for the session.
The webinar will be run on Blackboard Collaborate and you will receive full joining instructions.
